Chapter-48 His imposter!

MORNING 7 AM

I pushed my face more into the pillow as the sunlight danced over my face. My eyes fluttered and I rubbed them with the backside of my hands.

"Good morning Babygirl!" I heard Tanu who seemed to come out directly from the shower.

"Tu naha bhi li!"I exclaimed, pulling myself out of the bed.

"Haan yaar, mummy ne utha dia!" she cried.

"When will the haldi function start?" I asked her, gulping the water from the bottle.

"They're saying it for 11 AM" she replied, rubbing her hair between the towel. I hummed while making a pout.

Making my way to the bathroom, I said "I'm going to freshen up and I'll be ready in half an hour, okay!"

"I'll meet you downstairs only, and lock the room before coming." she ordered, to which I nodded and went inside the washroom.

After freshening up and getting a warm water shower, I wrapped myself in the towel and stepped out of the bathroom.

Applying the moisturiser all over my body, I changed into a beautiful organza yellow dress perfect for the haldi ceremony. Blowing dry my hair, I decided to leave them open as it will go nice with my dress.

Doing the rest of my skincare, I settled down on the chair of the dressing mirror and started doing my makeup. I decided to go with a minimal look, so I just applied some nude lipstick, eyeliner and a bit of mascara. In the end I added blush to my cheeks which enhanced my overall look.

After setting my dupatta, I grabbed my phone from the bed and went out of the room after locking it.

On my way downstairs I checked my phone for any text from Vayu but there wasn't any. A sigh of sadness settled on my face but acting mature I decided not to ruin my best friend's wedding. I plastered my face with a smile and moved to the hall where Tanu might be present.

As soon as my eyes fell on Tanu, my eyes widened. She was not looking less than a fairy. The yellow saree adorning her perfect body, pink tinted lipstick adding volume to her lips, the blush adding stars to her overall appearance.

I went near her and cupped her cheeks with my hands,I pecked her forehead and applied kaala tikka behind her ear to cast off the evil eyes.

"The most beautiful bride to be!" I chuckled as I took her in my embrace. She smiled at me and asked me to have breakfast before the haldi ceremony started. I went to the dine in area and did my breakfast while checking on the important messages and emails.

After finishing the meal, I called my mumma and had a quick chit chat with her before going back to Tanu. She informed me that they'll be coming to Gwalior on the wedding day itself.

Making my way back to the hall, I kept my phone back into the pocket of my dress. I went near Tanu and sat beside her, who was sitting in the urlee tub full of flower petals. Dhairya too joined her and settled next to her.

The backside was beautifully decorated with marigold and white lilies. The overall view had different shades of yellow with a little tint of white.

The air was filled with the fragrance of the flowers. The main platform, the backdrop, and the seats are all painted yellow in this space, giving it a rather surreal appearance.

The venue was adorned with marigold and rose garlands, torans (door hangings), and rangoli made from vibrant colours. colourful drapes and fabrics were incorporated to create a warm and inviting ambiance.

Soon the ceremony started and everyone gathered around Tanu and Dhairya. Luckily he matched his kurta with Tanu's saree and I could see the blush on her face seeing her man in matching attire.

Aarti aunty applied haldi on Dhairya's cheeks followed by Tanu's. The elders were asked to apply the haldi first and then the young ones can do the same.

I was sitting near Tanu busy on my phone when I heard Tanu's voice, "Reya! I think I've forgotten my iron stick. Please can you bring it from the room?

(Kind of knife or iron thing kept by the bride during the whole marriage procession to prevent the evil eyes.)

I nodded and started moving away. I reached the stairs while my phone rang and I picked it up as I walked up the stairs. I was on the last step when my leg twisted and I was about to fall backward but luckily I held the railing fixed on the wall.

Balancing myself slowly, I disconnected the call without prior warning. I hissed when I tried to stand. I saw here and there to see if anybody was there since the pain was killing me.

Shaking my head in disappointment and pain I cautiously started moving towards the room. Upon reaching the room I realised I had forgotten the keys which I'd given to Tanu.

I cursed myself under my breath and was about to leave to get the keys when my eyes fell on the door. There wasn't any lock and it seemed to be open.

Before I could think suspiciously, the pain in my leg increased and I hissed again. I slammed the door open with a thud in pain and entered the room. As soon as I entered, my steps halted and I stood astound at my place.

I had reached Gwalior early in the morning and had already informed Tanishka about my arrival. I had planned to surprise my Sunflower since it had been months to our Roka when I met her for the last time.

Though she tried a lot to convince me to come but I deliberately declined because I didn't want to ruin my surprise.

Upon reaching the hotel, Tanu's brother showed me the room so that I could get some rest after the tiring journey. Initially Navi was also joining me but some important project came up and she couldn't make it.

I stayed in the room until Tanu texted me about Reya's arrival in the hall. Somehow I managed to take the keys from her so that I could enter the room when Reya was busy with breakfast. Sensing the right moment I entered their room, and texted Tanu to send Reya here.

I settled on the bed while my eyes never left the door. I was continuously tapping my shoes on the floor as I was getting impatient. I couldn't wait more to see my baby.

I rubbed my face with my hands and leaned towards my knees keeping my elbows on them for support. But my head was again fixed towards the door.

I released a sigh and was about to get up when the door opened suddenly with a thud. My eyes calmed seeing my Sunflower who just entered the room and suddenly her face went all numb. Her steps halted seeing me.

Her eyes got wide with each second passing. My lips joined together to form into a smile and I was about to speak when she started.

"Moch paun mein aayi hai aur asar dimag pe ho raha hai! Reya Sharma, you're hallucinating as if Vayu is present in this room!" She said with a chuckle.

When did she get the injury? And where? She was all fine when she left for Gwalior. My brains got filled with questions while my eyes started scanning her from head to toe!

I stood up and was about to take a step towards her when she started speaking again "Now! I can see him standing up and approaching me. Pagal ho gayi hai tu Reya uske pyaar mein!" She tapped a little on her forehead and started moving.

Before I could say anything, I heard her humming a song,

"Aasmaan mein jaise baadal ho rahe hai

Hum dheere dheere dheere paagal ho rahe hai

Aasmaan mein jaise baadal ho rahe hai

Hum dheere dheere dheere paagal ho rahe hai

Main to mar jaana haye wo na jo milne aaye

Main to mar jaana haye wo na jo milne aaye

Saansein meri hai unke hathon mein

Yaad piya ki, mere piya ki aane lagi

Haye bheegi bheegi raato mein"

My eyes widened at the lyrics of the song. Oh god!

I facepalmed myself and chucked at her as she continued.

"Ho kab wo din aayega

Jab hum bhi mehndi lagwayenge

Na jaane kab aayenge

Aur doli mein le jayenge

Baari na aaye humari

Baarate dekhi saari

Baari na aaye humari

Baarate dekhi saari

Nache hum sabki baraato mein

Yaad piya ki, mere piya ki aane lagi

Haye bheegi bheegi raaton mein"

I noticed she was hobbling as she moved towards the dressing table while humming. My eyes went down on her feet and I saw a bluish mark on her ankle. She sprained her leg! But when?

As she reached the dressing table, I followed her and stood behind her. I was about to hold her shoulder but she retorted again "Now Vayu will hold my shoulder and boom, he'll disappear in the next second."

I shook my head at her words as she continued "You're looking breath taking Sunflower! Yahi kehta agar yahan hota toh! Oh god! Every time he calls me Sunflower I feel like kissing the life out of him."

I was astonished by her words and before she could say anything, I held her shoulder and turned her towards me. "See Sunflower! I didn't disappear!" I said, leaning towards her.

Her eyes widened in realisation that I'm real. Not her hallucinations.

"You can't be Vayu! He's in Dehradun right now." a slow whisper left her mouth.

"He was but right now he's standing in front of his love, Sunflower." I replied.

She shook her head again and said "this can't be possible, he told me..."and before she could complete I slammed my lips over her.

I devoured her lips like I'd touched them after a whole infinity. I slid my hand around her waist and the next moment I lifted her in my arms without breaking the kiss.

I kept her on the bed and moved away to lock the door. As I turned I saw her. She was still not in her senses. Her eyes round open, lips parted as if she'd seen a ghost, face all numb in surprise.

I strode towards the bed and settled myself beside her. Cupping her face in my palms I said "I'm real Sunflower. I'm here with you. In Gwalior. At Tanishka's wedding." I kissed her cheeks as I ended.

"I still can't believe it. What if you're his imposter?" she asked.

I facepalmed myself in embarrassment and chuckled. Oh god this girl.

"Say that again, and I'll take you right here, when everyone is busy in the Haldi function downstairs." I said while leaning towards her.

That's when she believed I was real. Her cheeks blushed timidly and she punched my chest with her small fist.

She hid her face in my chest while I held her close to me. "You're so shameless!"

I took a deep sigh and moving my arms across her waist, I pulled her into my lap. Pushing the hairs from her neckline, I placed a peck over there and slowly said "Let me show you what actual shamelessness means!"

I witnessed the change in her expression as soon as my words fell in her ears. She instantly turned her face to look at me and her cheeks blushed with the darkest tint of pink.

"Fuck youuuu!" she screamed in a low voice and snuggled her face into my chest. I chuckled at her actions and tightened my grip around her.

"Vayu!"she said, looking at me.

I hummed as I intermingled our fingers. I could see calmness on her face.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier? You know I was feeling very bad that you couldn't make it. I was missing you so much!" a tear swiped down her cheek, she asked.

Wiping the tears from my finger, I pecked her lips and replied "I wanted to surprise you Sunflower, it's been months since we met after our Roka. Isliye tera call bhi nahi uthaya mene, agar utha leta to turant pakad leti jhooth ko. I'm sorry if you feel bad because of me."

She hummed and rested her again over my chest. "I missed you so much Vayu!" she whispered.

"I missed you too baby!"I cooed her and shifted a little backward so I could rest my back on the headboard.

"Fuck! I forgot Tanu asked me to bring her iron stick."she suddenly said in a loud voice and tried to get up from my lap.

"Ouch!"she cried and I looked at her sprained leg. I pulled her towards me and tightened my hold. "How do you get your leg sprained?" I asked, taking her feet in my hand.

"Vayu, I need to go. Tanu must be waiting for me.." she requested and tried to get away from me again. I held her tight and whispered, "It was just a part of my surprise, Sunflower! She sent you here because I told her."

Her body loosened up as she eyed me before pecking my cheeks. "Asshole!" She cursed and that's something my ears wanted to listen to for so long!

Even her cuss words for me feel better than 'I love you'.

I massaged her foot until she felt better. She was sitting on my lap like a koala bear sticking to my body, her head rested on my shoulder and hands curled up to my neck.

We sat in each other's embrace while I massaged her foot until my phone pinged with a notification. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and unlocked it. It was a message from Tanu saying, 'Tum logo ka romance khatam ho gaya ho to niche aajao! Mummy is asking for you two.'

"She's a bitch!" Reya cursed, dipping her face in the crook of my neck. I kissed her temples and made her sit on the bed.

"You okay?" I asked, gesturing towards her foot to which she nodded. "Go, get ready! I'm waiting!" She said and I agreed.

After 10 minutes I came out of the bathroom, and saw Sunflower engrossed in her phone. I cleared my throat to get her attention and when she lifted her neck to look at me, her eyes widened.

"Where did you get this from?" She asked, standing up and coming towards me. I grinned like an idiot taking long steps towards her. Our chest collided as I lifted her up in my arms.

"How come I not twin with my fiance at her best friend's wedding?" I asked, capturing her lips in a passionate kiss.

I pulled away when I felt her breathless. She was panting heavily as I kissed her cheeks. She blushed hard, her cheeks heated up with the darkest tint of pink.

"Btw Sunflower, what were you singing a few minutes ago?" I teased her.

"Shut up!" She yelled as we made our way out of the room.
